There Will Be Signs (00:00) What if the universe is in a constant state of sending you feedback? Welcome to There Will Be Signs, a podcast that celebrates the stories, synchronicities, and strange nudges that remind us there's more to life than what we see. Here we'll talk to deeply intuitive guests and offer practical ways to connect to the magic, whimsy, and unseen helpers that exist around you every single day because you are supported, dear listener. It may not always feel that way. There will be signs.
Killian (00:33) Welcome to another episode of There Will Be Signs. Thank you for being here. Hello, Amanda.
Amanda (00:40) Bye Killian.
Killian (00:42) It is we're just coming off of a a long weekend and we had a we had a nice one. And I have a story I want to share because I have to say, like these conversations that we've been having with our guests have just been like living in me. I just feel like I'm
Amanda (00:59) Mm-hmm.
Killian (01:00) noticing a lot more in my world. I feel like there's just like kind of more magic coming to the surface for me. But I had a really interesting experience recently. Because I like to talk about or I like to ask about omens, right? And
Amanda (01:14) Thank
Killian (01:15) I'm still in the process of sort of understanding or trying to understand the duality of like magic, right? Like that there's like there's like the positive side you want to move toward. And then there's maybe like something else that's not as positive, but maybe also protective. Cause I remember when we were talking to Tracy and we asked her about omens and we said, What do you think? And this was episode two. how do you interpret an omen? And she said, Well, I think omens for me tend to be signs of like what not to do. And so they're also maybe protective. It's not like this dark, forbidding thing. so my story is My friend and I were catching up, and I've been going through, I'm gonna get vulnerable for a second here, share this with the internet,
Amanda (01:56) Be nice.
Killian (01:57) please be nice it's okay. Everybody's in their own place and will have their own judgments, but
Amanda (02:03) you
Killian (02:03) is a this is a tender subject for me because I've been going through some challenges in parenting. I have a daughter who's five and she's just going through like normal stuff. She's been going through the normal three to five arc of testing boundaries. Like all the stuff she's doing is normal. and for me, it has been Highly dysregulating because it's been triggering a lot of like inner child wound stuff that I like just have not healed or processed. And so it's the beautiful thing is it has led me back to therapy and we're doing a lot of really good work on that, and I'm feeling a lot of shifts around that now. But I've
Amanda (02:39) Mm-hmm.
Killian (02:40) also been navigating a lot of grief because I feel so bad that like her normal kid behavior. can trigger such like intense dysregulation in me. And it shows up as, you know, best case, it's like bracing where I'm like, I'm doing my best. I'm handling it in a way that I want to be handling it. But inside I feel like really tight and like edgy. and then in the worst case it's like I end up yelling, right? Or like I just end up behaving in a way that like doesn't feel like it's helping the situation at all. right, right.
Amanda (03:09) But it's like instinctual, like that's what feels good.
Killian (03:12) Yeah, just like you kind of come off the rails a little bit.
Amanda (03:15) normal.
Killian (03:16) Yeah, and then you repair. And so I was expressing that to my friend in a voice memo. I was walking outside and I saw a bird that that was dead on the ground. beautiful little bird. And I and I remember saying in my voice memo, ooh, like, I see a dead bird and that feels like, what does that mean? You know? And I'm like, okay, well I'll Put that to the side and I'll keep going. And my friend
Amanda (03:36) Yeah.
Killian (03:36) had sent me a voice memo that I hadn't listened to yet. And so when I wrapped mine up, I listened to hers and she was, and I'm gonna I wanna talk about this in a way that just protects anonymity. So I'm gonna be super vague here, but she was telling me about a woman she knows who is having a really hard time. And it was a really heartbreaking story, and she connected some dots to like what led to this hard time was criticism that this Person had felt a lot of criticism. And then I saw, like in my mind's eye, the bird just like flashed into my peripheral. I was like, I realized it was like this like light bulb moment. Like I had just been talking about my daughter. And then my friends telling me about this person who is somebody's daughter, you know. I realized that what's going on for me that was so challenging is that I have been feeling a lot of criticism, not toward my
Amanda (04:30) Mmm.
Killian (04:31) daughter as a person, but like toward her behavior.
Amanda (04:34) Mm-hmm.
Killian (04:35) and the way that I'm protecting my dysregulation is by like feeling critical and I can tell like when I'm in that zone, like so much of that energy that I'm feeling is like, I just want this behavior to stop. So I'm judging the behavior, right? And I
Amanda (04:47) Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Killian (04:49) guess. My point is that like the bird to me in that moment, like the kind of hit that I got was like hearing my friend talking about this woman, it's like this fallen bird, right? we all have such potential feel loved and good. And sometimes when you get a lot of negative feedback in your life, it can, impede your ability to fully fly. And for
Amanda (05:11) Mm-hmm.
Killian (05:12) me, it felt like what a powerful omen for me. Like what a powerful wake-up call around like
Amanda (05:20) Mm-hmm.
Killian (05:20) just make sure that you can catch yourself when you are feeling criticism because that is the
Amanda (05:27) Mm-hmm.
Killian (05:27) insidious thing that can get in the way of connection. And the Like from that moment on, I started to notice more. And my weekend with my daughter has been so amazing. And like we connected on such a deeper level than we have in a while. And I was just like, my God. Like sometimes the this scary kind of like dead bird can feel dark and heavy, but it it can actually be maybe like this protective wake-up call moment. Does that make sense?
Amanda (05:59) Yeah, I feel like it was a sign or a symbol that triggered this other part of your brain that brought you this connection of an idea and shrunk it all together. it. Yeah.
Killian (06:10) Exactly. And maybe that's what signs are, right? It's like it's just helping us connect all the dots.
Amanda (06:17) Yeah, it could be anything for me often, you know, I'm like, I feel this way and I hear a song and it kind of makes me realize my emotions or what I've been feeling or makes me think deeper into the song. But it's like, it could be anything. It's and however it makes your brain kind of click those puzzle pieces together. That's
Killian (06:35) Yeah.
Amanda (06:39) the important part. Like it could have been anything, but it was
Killian (06:43) Yeah.
Amanda (06:43) that and it was like this. pointed me to this, which brought me to this point, which brought me to this point, which brought it all together.
Killian (06:49) Yes. it's connect the dots here. You know, it's as
Amanda (06:53) Yeah.
Killian (06:53) Tracy would say, it's a sign for what not to do. It's a sign for like, okay, you need to get out of that critical mind in order to
Amanda (07:01) Mm-hmm.
Killian (07:02) in order to ensure that that doesn't happen, That you're not like infecting you know, your kids with your critical voice because that's what I was battling with growing up. Is there's just a lot of criticism and that has become my inner voice. That's what I'm trying to work through in therapy, right? It's like get out of that.
Amanda (07:20) It's amazing how you found an animal that passed away brought you such light. Like it's really crazy to think
Killian (07:26) Right?
Amanda (07:30) like, the circle of life, I would have never put that connection together myself. I don't think that would have clicked for my brain patterns, but it's amazing how it was something of value to you, which another person might have just passed by like myself and thought, that's so sad. And then carried on with my day.
Killian (07:50) Well that's a good so that's a question then. Like do you ever see something like that and go, what could that mean? Like for me I just got this like I got kind of shivers when I saw it. Like, oof,
Amanda (08:00) Mm hmm. shivers of sadness, maybe but not of like a this is a sign like that's
Killian (08:06) Interesting.
Amanda (08:07) not my versions of signs.
Killian (08:10) Yeah.
Amanda (08:11) I can I don't have like an example of other things that frequently pop up. But yeah, like,
Killian (08:17) Yeah. For you it's mostly like it's pointing you in a in a direction. Like it feels like positive. Like when you see a sign you're like, this is like this is a sign. Like this is a synchronicity.
Amanda (08:28) Yeah, little fun. Mine might be a little bit more cliche or something, but you know, a rainbow on the new year. Like, it's gonna be a great year. And usually you
Killian (08:37) yeah, yeah. Mm.
Amanda (08:40) look back at the year, you're like, that year was all right. We were hopeful. We were all hopeful that first day. Every year
Killian (08:42) Like, was it? Was it? Let's dissect that rainbow a little bit. Yeah.
Amanda (08:50) that first day always sounds great in theory, but no, we all have our own things.
Killian (08:53) Uh-huh. I
Amanda (08:55) Poor dead bird.
Killian (08:57) know. But hey, like it
Amanda (08:59) served a greater purpose for Killian.
Killian (09:01) well, for me maybe, yeah. I hope it lived a very happy life and I course am really sad when I see animals. no.
Amanda (09:08) We don't want to see it, but if it served a dual extra Gave an extra gift beyond the sidewalk
Killian (09:15) It did give me a gift. It gave me a really, really, really valuable gift. just
Amanda (09:19) and good on you for recognizing it. Could have just walked on by, been a little sad.
Killian (09:24) that's what this pod is about. You could have just walked on by, but there will be signs.
Amanda (09:29) That's right. will say one thing. I spent the weekend with a lot of friends and
Killian (09:30) Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Amanda (09:36) guess who did everybody's body graph charts?
Killian (09:40) You
Amanda (09:41) was like, I think I know now after our call, I was like, oh, I think I know what that means. And as soon as I saw my friend, I'm like, you're this and you're definitely this.
Killian (09:51) And were you right?
Amanda (09:52) for her, well, There was like one person that I don't know that well yet as part of the mix and so I couldn't spot that one.
Killian (10:00) Yeah, fair.
Amanda (10:03) One was blatantly obvious. If they're a manifesting generator, you can see them a mile away, especially if you know them well. Or if
Killian (10:09) You can see him coming. Yeah.
Amanda (10:12) they're a generator, you could probably point that out, which I did, and everyone thought they were so interesting. we
Killian (10:19) Mm.
Amanda (10:20) did the little charts, and then we did a little screenshot, and I sent it, and I said, read about it on your own time.
Killian (10:27) That's right. And listen to our episode with Debbie, right? how fun.
Amanda (10:30) Yeah. Should we do a quick intro?
Killian (10:33) yeah, because I was gonna say, speaking of Debbie, Melissa, who is gonna be on today, was actually her mentor and the woman who trained her with Reiki. So Melissa Amos is the founder of Akashic Reiki and a voice at the intersection of psychology, spirituality, and success. Her work challenges the idea that we're broken and instead shows people how to evolve beyond conditioning. and lead from who they truly are. Melissa is the author of Memoirs of a Mystic in Training and hosts the Mystic in Training podcast. So you should get on that podcast for sure. So I'm really excited to speak to her today. It was especially since we had such a lovely conversation with Debbie last week.
Amanda (11:18) Absolutely.
Killian (11:19) Melissa, welcome. Thank you for being here.
Melissa Amos (11:21) Thank you.
Killian (11:21) you are the founder of Akashic Reiki. So tell us a little bit about that modality.
Melissa Amos (11:27) So I've been working with the Akashic Records, which are your soul's library for a number of years. And what I've always known about the Akashic Records is it's not just about, yes, they're record of the story of your life. Actually, when you enter this space, we're entering this frequency that holds this incredible energetic integrity, which is of non-judgment, of unconditional love. and this knowing that as a soul we're always meant to be growing. Yet everything that I was seeing in the space about the Akashic Records was really focused on, who were we? What was our understanding of our past lives? And using that as a tool of awareness and healing and understanding, which is great because it works incredibly like that. But... What I kept receiving was this understanding that the Akashic records or the field wants to work with us in a different way. Or perhaps another way of explaining it is the field holds a frequency that we weren't accessing to its full potential.
Killian (12:31) Hm.
Melissa Amos (12:32) Now, it actually happened when I was in Bulgaria on a business retreat. And I was asking some really interesting questions, things like how do healers and spiritual business owners like become comfortable with holding their power? How, why is it that I see so many gifted people that are incredible at what they do, but they're not achieving the levels of success and the levels of understanding and awareness and clients that their soul is driving them to. And there's this
Amanda (13:03) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (13:04) kind of like intersection where I kept seeing them fall down. And yeah, I was asleep as you do at 3 a.m. and I got woken up.
Amanda (13:16) If you're lucky.
Melissa Amos (13:18) I was very lucky. It was this beautiful house overlooking the mountains. 3 a.m. rolls by. I was sleeping with the window open or the door open and something told me to go outside. So I did what I was told, went on the balcony and I can only describe it as this attunement download channel, something just came through me. And it came through a bit as a journey. didn't know what it was, but I received this frequency, which through the form of a flame, I kept seeing this flame. And yeah, when I came home, I was playing with it. when I came home at the time I was teaching soul school, which is my Akashic Records practitioner training. And I thought, you know what, I'm going to pass on this attunement to my students. I passed it on and that's where everything just changed. Because what they were sharing with me is that now it was as if they could hold the frequency of the records through their hands and do it through hands on healing rather than just through, you know, conscious, through speaking and through reading. Also, the way that they were receiving the information seemed to really change. So I got really curious and I'm a psychotherapist by profession. I actually, what I did is I took all my psychotherapy work, brought it into the Akashic Records and I was like, all right, let's play. What works, what doesn't, what's going on? How does this work with soul growth? And from there, Akashic Reiki was born.
Killian (14:49) Wow. That's amazing. So what does a Kashik Reiki look like? Does someone come in for a a Reiki session and you're hands on? Are you quiet and channeling while you're doing the work and then you let them know what comes through for you or how does that process look?
Melissa Amos (15:05) So there's different ways that we can work in it. The main thing is, is that we have access to this frequency. So it can come through as simply as through a hands-on healing, like you might do in a reiki, in a traditional reiki practice. However,
Amanda (15:18) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (15:19) as a psychotherapist, I really understand that our human mind often wants to get involved. You know, sometimes when we're lying there, we can, you know, we stop questioning things, we're kind of looking for stuff, et cetera. So what I created as part of the practitioner training was a number of protocols or interventions that we can use. So we can be having a conversation. We might be guiding you through different hand positions, different somatic experiences as well. We work also with eye movements and with conversation. So what's going on? know, we're working very much at the mind, body, soul level. like nothing's left behind because we're whole humans, right? We need to bring our whole self into the conversation.
Amanda (16:06) I have a few questions and they will they might not be in the right order. Okay.
Melissa Amos (16:10) Okay, go for it.
Amanda (16:12) My first question is, what do most people look for going into this? Or is there like a common question that people go in saying, hey, I'm looking for this?
Melissa Amos (16:24) For me, it's this understanding that our soul and our human are often, you know, butting heads, right? Our psychology
Killian (16:34) huh.
Amanda (16:34) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (16:35) and our nervous system is like super strong. And I think what we often find is we come to like a point in our lives where what was isn't comfortable anymore. but we don't quite
Amanda (16:46) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (16:47) know what's on the other side of it. And it seems like there's something bigger than us that's pushing us into something more and we can't quite understand what it is. Or maybe some of us more spiritually aware people are like, that's my soul giving me a nudge. But we realize
Amanda (17:02) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (17:03) that there's something that's getting in the way or stopping us. We find ourselves keep repeating these old patternings. So that tends to be what we're working with.
Amanda (17:15) The start.
Melissa Amos (17:16) Yeah, and it can be like a physical symptom.
Amanda (17:16) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (17:20) So it can be, you know, something that's going on physically in the body. It is very often emotional. But it's it is quite often this sense of. Like maybe like dissatisfaction is a good way to put it or unease
Amanda (17:35) Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (17:37) that they're like, I want to know more. And the Akashic records have always been a. a place that can help provide those answers.
Amanda (17:45) And how often would you say your clients come back? You said cause now it's kinda like kinda like a therapy. Is it do your clients usually come back usually come in for a session, come back a year later, come back the next week? What does that look like for the average client?
Melissa Amos (18:03) So when I was developing Akashic Reiki, another one of these great questions that I was asking was, what is healing for? Like, why do we heal?
Amanda (18:12) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (18:13) And the answer that I kept seeing in psychology and psychotherapy and healing and the doctors was, we've got a symptom, it's broken, let's fix it. Right? And I'm like, that's, hold on a minute. That's not why Master Asui channeled Reiki. I don't think the universe was up there looking at us as humans going, look at those broken humans. Let's send them something to fix it. It doesn't make sense. And so I asked the question and it came to that healing is an evolution path. It's really about us coming more into our soul expression and our soul's expression is expansion. It's continual growth, continual evolution. Why I'm prefacing with that is that's how I treat my clients and it's not a case of come to me, you've got this problem, let's fix it. It might be come to me, you've got this symptom, you've got this dissatisfaction, let's explore it, let's understand it. And because of that, my recommendation is that we work together for three months or six months or even 12 months, because it's not
Amanda (19:18) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (19:19) a case of what let's just fix it and now our life is free. It's like... How
Amanda (19:23) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (19:23) are we growing? as we break through one identity or one limitation, then the next thing comes up, not because we're going down a broken spiral, but because we're expanding into more of who we are.
Amanda (19:39) Yeah, we're always growing. Okay, thank you.
Killian (19:41) Yeah. Yeah.
Melissa Amos (19:41) Right. You're welcome.
Killian (19:43) Do you mind expanding on your I love this, I love just diving into everyone's different beliefs about like kind of how the universe works, right? Like why we're here, what we're connected to. and I know of the I idea that I like is that we do have a lot of incarnations. We've lived a lot of lives. And that to your point that we're constantly kind of evolving, we're learning, and and as we independently are learning, kind of this like consciousness is learning, right? Through our experiences. Can you expand on how, yeah, how do you how do you interpret the why of it all? It's a big question.
Melissa Amos (20:25) I just had goosebumps. I was just like, this is the exact sort of question that I bring into the Akashic Records for the last nine years, nearly 10 years I've been working in the space. I'm like, what is the purpose of life? Why on earth are we here? And the Akashic Records gave me a really elegant answer. And we can go as deep or as kind of surface on this as you want.
Amanda (20:49) We got the time, let's sit, let's get comfortable.
Killian (20:51) Let's dive in.
Melissa Amos (20:55) The headline is purpose of humanity as expansion that we're expanding into consciousness. And they gave me this, this was years ago, they gave me this really beautiful kind of visual. They showed me this pool and the pool, if you imagine like a round pool and in the middle, there was this bright white light with like a spring, yeah, like a water spring, right?
Killian (21:15) mm.
Melissa Amos (21:16) And then all around it was the colors of the rainbow. And what they showed me is that through the spring, the water kind of like drops out and this is us, are our souls, our expressions of consciousness. And they land in a pool in one of the colors. It's all one pool, yes, but they each
Amanda (21:35) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (21:35) hold a different frequency, vibration, color, experience. And our purpose in each life is essentially to live a life as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, right? And to live that life, understand who we are, And, this is where it got so good, right? That as we really land into each one and we kind of progress through, it's not a hierarchy. It's not like green is better than red. It just is what it is. But we need to expand all the way through why to come back into the white light. Now, why this makes sense physically is if you think about white light, right, it's not the absence of color. It's a combination of all the
Amanda (22:15) It's all the colors.
Melissa Amos (22:16) right.
Amanda (22:17) Yeah, like a prism.
Melissa Amos (22:18) like a prism. And so what they showed, they just showed me that and I had to decipher it. But what they showed me from that was that we are meant to be living our lives as the expression of who we've come to be. So we
Amanda (22:32) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (22:33) need to know who we are fully and trust who we are and become who we are. Right. So there's kind of three stages to that. And as we do that, we move through different experiences and it's almost like you could say like we collect them or we expand into them and then why at the end we reach enlightenment which is the bright white light that we're all kind of moving towards, right?
Amanda (23:00) I like it.
Killian (23:01) Yeah. It makes sense. It's tricky for me because I think as Amanda and I have talked about this too, like as empathic people, and I remember even having these conversations with my dad growing up of like, why do quote unquote bad things happen to good people? Why is there so much suffering? And we're seeing it now,
Amanda (23:15) Mm-hmm.
Killian (23:17) you know, ultra high deaf. it's it can be tough to grapple with that and And also make space for the fact that like we're all connected, we're all in this together, and we have our own soul purpose that we need to navigate with everything else that's going on as well. Right. So making space for it all.
Melissa Amos (23:35) Right. It was a question I brought in. I mean, it's the question, isn't it, that everyone asks, especially when you start
Killian (23:39) Hmm, it is.
Amanda (23:41) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (23:43) looking at things like the law of attraction, when you start looking at karma, when you start kind of looking at all of these other philosophies that are out there. It's like, it can be a bit gaslighty, you know? You're like, well, you brought it on yourself. It's like, well, did you? And for me, this understanding that we're meant to be the expression of everything, right? Like, we're literally meant to have all of the experiences, the good, the bad, the dark, the light, right? And everything in between.
Amanda (24:08) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (24:10) And that perhaps we come down as expressions of them all. So we've been the people that trigger us and the people that we aspire to be, on some level or another. That we are all one, that everything serves a purpose, right? That this doesn't mean everything happens for a reason. And I think that that's very different, it's a different conversation. But through my work in the Akashic Records, I saw time and time again is that when bad things happened, right, or you did a bad thing, right, because, you know, we're not all saints,
Amanda (24:45) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (24:46) And morality and socialites and all of that have been different throughout the, you know, throughout the centuries. But something happens and really our job as humans is to come and learn and grow from it. And how am I learning growing from it?
Amanda (25:02) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (25:03) Where either, and we see this nowadays all of the time in media and everywhere, that we're kind of taught to wrap it in shame or fear or anger or all of these things. And what's happening from an Akashic Records point of view when we're coming at it with these feelings is it's almost like we're locking them in. They're turning into like ice blocks in our records. And our job unconditional love, right? That's kind of what we're here discover, I think, or part
Killian (25:34) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (25:34) of what we're here to discover. And what's really interesting from an Akashic perspective that when we meet these ice blocks, the thing that we did or the thing that happened to us or the thing that we're projecting onto somebody else, with that unconditional love, that ice block moves into water or into steam, which gives it this different velocity, which then means that we can if you like learn the lessons or grow from it or stop it being trapped in our body and have being this repeated karma. And it's almost like once we've navigated it, we get the red badge or whatever, and then we
Amanda (26:11) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (26:12) can kind of move on. It's a bit simplistic,
Killian (26:15) Hmm.
Melissa Amos (26:16) but
Killian (26:16) I think we as humans need a little bit of a simplistic model to understand because it's so complex and
Melissa Amos (26:23) Right.
Killian (26:23) and and bigger than us. and I appreciate it because I think that these are the like you said, these are the big questions, right? I'm curious to know, since since we love, of course, to talk about signs,
Melissa Amos (26:34) Mm-hmm.
Killian (26:35) how signs come into play. Do you feel like signs are coming from the Akashic record specifically, from your guides, how do they show up in your life? How do you find yourself interpreting like the the source that they're coming in from?
Melissa Amos (26:50) Okay, so I can answer this in a few ways, right? So as
Killian (26:53) Sure.
Melissa Amos (26:54) a spiritual psychotherapist, my belief is that the whole world is a tarot deck, right? I just think everything's
Amanda (26:59) Cool.
Killian (27:00) Ooh.
Melissa Amos (27:03) a sign, everything's got meaning, everything is, and it's really what we make of it. So let's start there. Now, when I work in the Akashic Records, and I see this all of the time, right, we have a session or a teacher session or whatever, like the synchronicities seem to line up. stronger, bigger, following a session. Just seems to happen. So do they come from the Akashic field? Maybe. They certainly come from somewhere. I think they're there all the time. I think it's up to us as humans to notice them, to ask for them, or at least be open to them. For many years, one of the things that I used to say every morning was, you, angels, for reminding me of your presence. And that came from Kyle Gray, who was one of my teachers. And I would say that. And every morning, there would be something somewhere. And so what's happening there? Is it that the angels are like, she's open, start throwing things down? Is it from a psychological point of view, I'm asking the questions, the signs are already there and now I'm able to find them. I
Amanda (28:12) Mm-hmm.
Killian (28:12) Mm.
Melissa Amos (28:13) think that's an and, true. Where do they come from? I think what it is is the more aligned we are, right, with our destiny, with
Killian (28:23) Yes.
Melissa Amos (28:24) our highest frequency. the more the signs show up.
Killian (28:29) I like that analogy. Yeah.
Melissa Amos (28:32) I mean, it kind of makes sense, right? Because if you think about, I don't really believe in fate and I don't believe that destiny is just like, there's this path. But I do believe that we're all here for a reason. I think that, which is to know ourselves, love ourselves, become ourselves, right? And as we do that, it's serving a greater purpose. So it's not just, I'm doing this for me, I'm doing this for us and I'm doing this for all. As I do this, that big C, yeah, that big bowl of water is expanding and coming more into the light. And so if I'm in my lane and on my path and I'm like, right, well, I'm going down my road, it assumes then that my like magic or my energy is going to be impacting positively the people that need my help. And just like the people I need help, I'm going to cross their paths. And so like these kind of how do I explain it, these paths all intertwine and cross. And this
Killian (29:31) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (29:32) is where we see the signs. It's like they're there and they're laid out for us. And that's when we see the, know, triple eight and the 11 11 and the feathers coming down and they're like all the things that I mean, they're
Killian (29:43) Yeah. Yeah. we were just talking in the when Amanda and I were touching base before you jumped on about because I like to ask the question too around omens, right? Because there's a duality, I think, to how we receive signs. And sometimes something can feel like a hey, move toward this. This is a synchronicity, this is a sign. And then sometimes there can be these like, ooh, what does that mean? Like, You know, seeing a dead animal, for example, was what we talked about. what's your take on the concept of omen?
Melissa Amos (30:14) We were talking about this the other day and how you know like the black cat crossing your path because like in the
Killian (30:16) nice. Right.
Amanda (30:19) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (30:19) UK in the UK a black cat is good luck But in the US it's bad luck, right? I'm not I was
Killian (30:25) right.
Amanda (30:26) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (30:26) I was talking to some Europeans from that. I'm like, well, hold on. Where do you sit? now a Magpie or one of my Spirit I see magpies all the time and this last few weeks. I keep seeing one magpie on its own, right? And you know the thing, one for sorrow, two for joy, right? And so I've been contemplating what's going on and my feeling is that this wasn't for seeing my sorrowful future, which I think some people will take it at. And if I took it that way, then actually, again, from a psycho-spiritual point of view, I'm now creating my sorrowful future, which I'm not really down for. But what I did understand is that it did have a sign for me. I understand what magpies mean for me personally. And actually, for me, it was more of a reminder that when I go through hardships or sadness or sorrow, that I'm not going through it alone. There's always someone or something there.
Amanda (31:25) Hm.
Melissa Amos (31:26) Now, I think this is different from like every sign's a positive one. Because sometimes the answer
Killian (31:30) Right.
Amanda (31:30) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (31:31) is no. Sometimes the answer is like, come on, lady, move the other way. And
Killian (31:35) Right.
Melissa Amos (31:36) I think that that's OK. I think it's just understanding that, first of all, we have free will. We can do what we want, kind of. And
Killian (31:44) Hm. Yeah. Yeah.
Amanda (31:46) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (31:48) where did this, the black cat, come from? Well, powerful women, they had the black cats. Someone said it was dangerous, and now it's a thing. Question
Killian (31:55) Mm. Mm-hmm. Yep.
Melissa Amos (31:58) that.
Killian (31:58) Can you tell me, What is the the one for sorrow, two for joy? I don't know if here in the US we have that same that same saying. it?
Melissa Amos (32:05) okay.
Amanda (32:05) No.
Melissa Amos (32:05) Don't. Okay.
Amanda (32:07) is it just with magpies or is it just anything? Okay.
Melissa Amos (32:09) Just magpies, because magpies, they stick together, right? So it's one for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy, five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret, never to be told. I don't know the rest.
Amanda (32:21) Hm.
Melissa Amos (32:22) Yeah.
Killian (32:23) So these signs are like built into this limerick. the concept. Wow, that's beautiful. Yeah. Okay, so then you
Melissa Amos (32:26) Right. It's the whole thing.
Amanda (32:29) Yeah, that's really fun.
Killian (32:31) saw the individual one and you're like, wait a second, it's not necessarily
Amanda (32:33) Yeah.
Killian (32:35) about sorrow for me.
Melissa Amos (32:37) I think it comes back to how am I approaching this? What is it showing me? Because
Killian (32:42) Yeah. Yes.
Melissa Amos (32:44) just like I was saying about how am I recording in my Akashic Records, right, with the guilt, anger, shame, fear, if I see this and now I'm in fear of, my God, my life's gonna fall apart, right,
Killian (32:54) Mm.
Melissa Amos (32:55) then that's what I'm creating in that moment. That's where my psychology and where my nervous system, where my energy's focused on, and now I'm starting to create this. thing, right?
Killian (33:05) Yes, yes.
Melissa Amos (33:07) Which I'm not down for. Like the magpie had a sign for me. And maybe it was to do with, you know, something that I'm moving through or something that I'm going through. And it's not like, I don't have sadness. Of course I have sadness. Like I'm a human being. But actually it comes into like the gratitude. Thank you for reminding me of what I'm here for. Thank you for giving me the message that's here for me, rather than like,
Amanda (33:30) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (33:32) no, we're all going to.
Killian (33:33) Yeah, right. Right. It's not like this death omen, right? Like, well,
Amanda (33:37) Yeah.
Killian (33:38) something bad is going to happen. I feel like the way I've experienced it has been more of a protective energy of like, here's
Melissa Amos (33:45) Yes.
Killian (33:45) what, here's what you need to pay attention to to avoid going down a path you don't want to go down, right? Or here's something we need to work through to get to that next level that you want to be at,
Melissa Amos (33:55) It's thinking also like what are you asking? Because our brain just goes off on its little tangents, doesn't it? And it starts,
Killian (34:01) Yes.
Melissa Amos (34:01) know. So one thing that really changed how I show up in the world was like asking good questions. Like this, thank you, angels, for reminding me that you're here. It's giving me a focus. And if you actually listen to your brain, your brain starts delivering you a whole load of things, which most of them aren't helpful. And so when
Amanda (34:21) Hmm.
Melissa Amos (34:21) a sign shows up, it's important to kind of take stock of what was I asking? What was I putting out there? What was, you know, what was going on in my psyche at that moment? And then that might be an answer to that particular thing.
Killian (34:35) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (34:35) like I work with Tarot or Oracle cards in the same way. The world's a Tarot. And when I've got a deck of cards, it's, they're sitting there and they're giving me a snapshot of. what's happening without me having to go out into the world. It's like I've got the rich imagery in here. But same thing, it depends on what questions I'm asking. It will depend what kind of answers it gives me.
Killian (34:58) Yeah, everything is a mirror for your experience, right? I'm curious when you are making your decisions in your life, do you tap into the Akashic records? How do you sort of navigate? Do you look for signs? What's your of strategy for approaching decision making?
Melissa Amos (35:14) That's a great question. And it's
Killian (35:16) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (35:17) something really important because I used outsource a lot, either through my cards, through my science, through my mentors, through whatever. And I still do that to a degree, but this all came through a Kashuk Reiki. I started to realize that we have these different operating systems that live under the surface. which is essentially like our soul or our true self that sits in the middle, which is always there for expansion. And then we have these, I call them overlays in Akashic language, are like the conditions and the trauma responses and the beliefs and the values and all the things that we have which sit on top of this. And really our decisions are coming from one or the other or a mixture of a few. And so my first thing is, where's this coming from? And so actually what I do first is I go dwell in my soul. I'm like, all right, let's dwell in my soul. What's coming up? And it will give me an answer. And then it's not, let's ignore this. It's then now what's coming up? What resistance, what limiting beliefs, what's coming up that's telling me I can't do this? Because my soul's not going to feed me stuff I can't do. It has such faith in me. but it's these things. So I will look at all of that. I can't say I 100 % make my choices from my soul because sometimes these things are loud enough or believable enough or easy enough to
Killian (36:47) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (36:48) stick with. But that's what I do. And then I ask for a message, a sign. So I might pull a card. I'm not asking the cards to tell me what to do. I'm asking, what do I need to know? I might
Amanda (37:02) Hm.
Melissa Amos (37:02) be, if there's two choices, if I go this way or that way, what do I need to know? And then they
Amanda (37:08) Mm.
Melissa Amos (37:08) usually, there's advantages both ways.
Killian (37:12) Right. There's no wrong path, right?
Melissa Amos (37:15) wrong path. And the important thing is whatever choice you make, again, from an Akashic point of view, right? So you do all of this and the Akashic records are kind of like leading you there, right? So then you're like, right, I'm going to make this choice. The best thing that you can do is go, make this choice in coherence. My soul, like my overlays, everything is coming in and I am, this is my choice. This is what I'm doing. There's no other choice. And now I'm kind of letting go of everything rather than, you know, what we do. And we keep going back and we're like, well, maybe, or maybe I'll be half in half out, which when I take that into the records, it shows me this kind of scattered energy. And that's when things feel a bit flat or we get burnt out, we get lost, get, you know, so it's, it's like whatever choice you make, make the choice, be incoherent. You walk through the door, always
Killian (38:07) Stick with it.
Melissa Amos (38:08) trust on the other side of the door. There's someone there to support you. Your future self is going, yes, we can do this and trust it and then go and stop looking back.
Killian (38:18) I feel like you're speaking right to me.
Amanda (38:20) that makes life
Melissa Amos (38:21) Hahaha.
Amanda (38:22) so much less scary. Like I love the sound of this to be like, there's someone on the other side, either choice will be okay. And like you were saying, we're here to love each other. It's just so positive. Like for an anxious person who's like myself, who just feels like I'd like to think, you know, I'm an optimistic, positive, hopeful person, but sometimes you just get all caught up.
Melissa Amos (38:48) for sure.
Amanda (38:48) And your brain takes over and you think, this is gonna be bad. And then if you're just thinking like your guides, your signs are always going to put you at your highest best self, or hopefully try to lead you towards there. As I said, that a white bird just flew by. I was like, look at that.
Melissa Amos (39:03) Yeah. I love her.
Amanda (39:08) but like the way you're saying it just gives me such peace.
Melissa Amos (39:12) Yeah, good.
Killian (39:12) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (39:13) this anxiety, it's so common, and I'm sure like everyone listening to it, like don't listen to me and don't think I ever get anxiety. Like, of course we do. It's the nature of our mind. And for me, when I learned that, I'm like, the nature of my mind is to stay safe. And what it knows as safe is familiar. So it's,
Amanda (39:32) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (39:33) even if our familiar is uncomfortable is the worst thing ever. Right, our brain, our nervous system is going to go, you know what, we survived. Right.
Amanda (39:41) Yeah, but we know that one. We it's like the devil you know.
Killian (39:43) Yes, yes.
Melissa Amos (39:45) But we know it. for me, this distinction and this is this is what we do in the Akashic Reiki training, which I've just seen changed everyone's life is we're changing the authority between our soul, which is there for expansion and our overlays, which they're not even I mean, you could say they're parts of us, but they're They're just information. That's all it is, is it's just information. And I know I'm minimizing it because that information can be, you know, lifelong and it can sit in many things. And, you know, I'm a psychotherapist, like there's work that needs to be done.
Killian (40:20) Yes.
Melissa Amos (40:20) And when we can, when we can view it from that separate lens and go, okay, actually there's something in me, right. That's strong enough to
Killian (40:31) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (40:32) say, I don't want what's familiar. Right.
Killian (40:35) Mm, ooh, yeah. Yeah.
Melissa Amos (40:36) So what is that? It can
Amanda (40:36) Mm-hmm. Bravery
Melissa Amos (40:39) only be your soul. It can only be your soul because your brain and your nervous system want you to stay the same.
Killian (40:45) Yes,
Amanda (40:45) Mm-hmm.
Killian (40:46) yes.
Melissa Amos (40:47) So who do you trust more? Your soul, right? Or your health and safety officer that's sitting in your brain that's just like, you know, like an inside out. Yeah.
Amanda (40:56) I'm gonna say soul. Soul has
Killian (40:58) Yeah.
Amanda (40:58) more experience. I feel like our brains get might be new every time we got a new bod, but your soul
Killian (41:04) Yeah.
Amanda (41:05) like has the experience. Stick to the soul. Yeah.
Killian (41:07) The soul is the wisdom for sure. And that gives me chills thinking about that. Something actually we talked to Debbie about, who I know you know, I was going through this phase last week where I was, I was really struggling with realizing that throughout my life I had been putting a lot of pressure on myself always to make the right decision. And so, in just the process of the pressure, it makes decisions. really challenging. And not that I haven't made them. I've certainly made them. But then when I'm on the path, there's so much doubt. There's so much second guessing. And so it's really, I just think it's so heart opening and helpful not only to have the reminder that there's no wrong choice, right? But what you said specifically of like if you just you make the choice and you trust that there's someone on the other side that's there to help you. That is such a game changer when you're someone like me who I think just has so much fear around making the quote unquote wrong choice. Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (42:03) Yeah, Killian, we all do. We all have a fear about making the wrong choice. And I've
Killian (42:08) Yes.
Melissa Amos (42:09) spent this last year really looking at the difference between people who kind of, make it, the successful people, the ones that are doing the thing, the ones that release the podcasts and write the books and, you know, release the programs. And the difference isn't that they're not scared, but the difference is the authority and like the hidden I call them the hidden agreements or like the implicit beliefs that are sitting under the system, which might have come through past lives, which might have come through the collective consciousness, like wherever it's come from, and actually recoding them into, like for me, was, I trust my soul. My soul's never gonna leave me wrong. And it took some time and it took some recoding and it took some work really in my Akashic records to flip that. But now I will ask myself questions like, what should I do now? So like in my business, I was going to be releasing spaces in my membership. And I'm like, hmm, what do I want to be doing? And the question I asked was, where can I move towards that will give me that fear and that excitement? That's what I asked.
Killian (43:23) hm.
Melissa Amos (43:24) And it brought to me a a programme that I wrote last year called the success codes, right, which is about what we're talking about. But
Amanda (43:33) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (43:33) it's a very different relationship I have now because I've realised something that this thing that I call fear for so long and I was like, oh, I can't, I'm scared. My intuition's telling me no, they're giving me dead animals on the path, right, because I'm scared, right,
Killian (43:47) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (43:48) actually my psyche going or my psychology going, whoa, we're moving into the unknown.
Amanda (43:55) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (43:56) I know that my soul wants me to go in the unknown. So if I move towards my fear, I'm moving towards my growth, I'm moving towards my purpose, this is where I need to be. And it's like I reframe fear as an invitation, right, into more.
Killian (44:12) Yeah. Ooh, yes. Okay. So I want I I have so many questions I actually want to ask you and I want to back up and and ask you how you found Reiki specifically. Before I do, here's a question for you related to what you're just saying. So and the example I'm gonna use is that. So my daughter is five, we just s picked a kindergarten for her to go to. The way the school systems work here is you kind of select a school and there's a a A pool of them you can choose from, right? So we selected one, we committed to it, and then we started to see my husband and I started to see like all these other school names pop up. Like we're on walks and we would see someone would have a a sign in their yard of this other school that we were thinking about that we chose not to go to. and we love, truly love the school that we chose. When that kind of thing comes up, and then it creates those seeds of doubt of should is this a sign we should have gone to that school? You know, like is this a sign? Is it similar to what you were just saying where it's like it's just it's almost like the the fear brain starts to come in and maybe misread some of those signs.
Melissa Amos (45:16) me, that comes back into the coherence conversation. It's an
Killian (45:20) Mm.
Melissa Amos (45:21) invitation. It's saying to you, if you think it's a sign, right? It's the universe saying to you, are you sure? Why did you pick that school? What was it about that school? How much do you trust your judgment from that school? Right? so it's an invitation. It's not, oh, this other one's better because it keeps coming up.
Amanda (45:40) Mm-hmm.
Killian (45:40) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (45:40) I mean, you can ask that. can be like, right, if the other schools are better choice for my daughter, then, show me, right? You can ask and I think that
Killian (45:47) Sure. Yeah.
Melissa Amos (45:50) they'll deliver. You've got to get out of your head about it. But from an Akashic point of view, what's happening in this, you've made the choice. So now the line has appeared. And then
Killian (46:00) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (46:00) every time you're like, should I? We're now creating these like alternate timelines, essentially, that are now running. And that's where the confusion is because you're jumping. And so it could be, as you see these other names of the schools, it could be like, well, you know what? I'm really glad that I've made the right choice. Or I'm really glad that now that choice is made and I don't have to keep thinking about it. Right? Or
Killian (46:25) Mm, mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah.
Melissa Amos (46:28) I'm going to go and look into this school and see if I get that feeling or that knowing that it's a better choice. And if it is, well, yeah, me, I've made another, you know, I've created a new reality.
Killian (46:40) Yeah, it's interesting. It as you're saying that I'm realizing it it did kind of push us to really reinvestigate momentarily, right? Like, but we really love the choice we made. You know, it's like revalidate
Amanda (46:50) Mm-hmm.
Killian (46:51) almost, this was right for us though. Here are all the reasons we made this decision. That is a really interesting take. I I like that because I do think that comes up for a lot of people, right? They make a choice and then they start to see the X. You know, their X starts showing up and their name and everything. And you're like, but I thought I was behind that. Or that was behind me.
Amanda (47:08) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (47:10) If you think that we work in spirals rather than a straight line, really that's more true. And so when we see the X or the other score, it could just be, okay, I'm seeing it from a point of view. And yes, it's an invitation into what do I believe? What am I still holding on about that? Why am I still doubting? And from an Akashic
Killian (47:27) Yes.
Melissa Amos (47:28) point of view, like the Akashic records doesn't really care whether something's happened or it's not happened. But if you're thinking about it, if your focus is on it, if there's attention there, you're creating the record. It records everything that's happening at all times. And so for me, knowing this, and I try to live my life understanding what's going on in my records, it's like, hey, well, I've made a choice. Now this has come in. this is interesting.
Amanda (47:56) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (47:57) What's
Killian (47:57) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (47:57) it inviting me to do? Because the moment I now start living in four realities, I'm scattered. There's not
Killian (48:03) Right.
Melissa Amos (48:03) enough energy in that first one. Yeah. Yeah.
Killian (48:06) Right, to commit, to really move through and feel good about it. That's such a great, great point. okay, so you talked about how you you stepped out onto this balcony and you this frequency hit you, and that's how you started to blend the Reiki and the Akashic model together. How did you find Reiki specifically? And that you use usui, right?
Melissa Amos (48:27) Well, I'm a geek. You might not have known this about me, but I'm a geek. am like, I want to know everything about everything. So how I found it was, it was back in 2007, eight. I was working in sales and I was super stressed and I was getting massages. And one day this woman puts her hands on my face and I'm like. What was that? And she's like, it was Reiki. was like, that was the weirdest thing that I've ever felt in my life. Long story short, a few months later, since it was October 2008, I found myself in a Reiki class, honestly thinking nothing was going to happen. was like,
Killian (49:10) Sure. Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (49:13) know, but it was a weekend off and the way it all came about was nuts. I took this Reiki class, Asui Reiki, and I felt this energy move through my hands. And I was like, whoa.
Killian (49:27) Mm.
Melissa Amos (49:28) Because I'm scientific. I'm quite, I'm an open-minded cynic. Like I want things, I'm a bit of a scientist really. But now I have this evidence of this energy in my hand. I was starting to get these psychic experiences while I was doing Reiki. And I was like, okay. A month later, I quit my job and started another thing, I was training an NLP practitioner. And then, so since 2008, I have done a SUI, Karuna, Sekem, Holy Fire, World Peace, Crystal. I have like done all the Reiki's, mainly because I'm just... intrigued. I'm like, what's the difference?
Killian (50:13) Yeah.
Amanda (50:13) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (50:14) Like, what's going on? And I love it.
Killian (50:16) That's beautiful. Yeah. And so okay, wait. So we didn't ask you this, but what is your sun, moon, rising sign?
Melissa Amos (50:22) Pisces Sun,
Killian (50:23) Okay.
Melissa Amos (50:24) Virgo Rising, Leo Moon.
Killian (50:25) Okay. I love that combination. Maybe the Virgo has something to do with that science mind too.
Melissa Amos (50:34) it's the duality, right? I'm like my inner perfectionist and my outer like, woo, let's just go with the flow. It's
Killian (50:41) Yes.
Melissa Amos (50:42) been an interesting upbringing.
Killian (50:45) I can imagine,
Amanda (50:45) Yeah.
Killian (50:46) I can imagine.
Amanda (50:47) Well you have your sister signs, you know, Pisces and Virgo are sister signs, so you're very complete in that way.
Melissa Amos (50:51) Yeah. Yeah. I'm complete. like 27 degrees of Pisces. And it feels like this is my last incarnation on Earth. Yeah.
Killian (51:03) Ha really.
Melissa Amos (51:05) So we'll see.
Amanda (51:06) if you have a client, do you ever feel like This person has a lot of records. They've lived many souls versus another person. You're like, You're a baby. You're like brand new
Killian (51:15) Mm-hmm.
Amanda (51:16) to the world. Do you ever like can you sense those people or can you even notice them just as a person walking in?
Melissa Amos (51:23) I mean, yes and no, because I actually don't know if it's as simple as that. Because once you go deep in the records, like if you've ever heard people who have said, had their Akashic records read or had past life healings, right? And how many people are like, I was Cleopatra in a past life, or how
Killian (51:38) Yes.
Melissa Amos (51:39) many people
Amanda (51:39) Yes.
Melissa Amos (51:39) are like, I was one of the disciples and you're like, the one that always comes to me was the Oracle of Delphi. Like I have many clients who were apparently the
Killian (51:48) Who were that?
Melissa Amos (51:48) Oracle, right? And it got me curious. I'm like, well, how can all of
Amanda (51:52) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (51:53) these people feel like they're those? I don't think they're making it up. I don't think that the reader was necessarily, you know, just saying something to please them. I think that we, I'm not sure it's as simple as this is my soul and these are the incarnations that it's happened. I think that we have soul families or soul groups and that we have access to to their journeys and their learnings. And so the Cleopatra lineage, if you like, or the Mary Magdalene lineage, I think there's people who may not have been her, they're, I don't know, they're in their ancestry or their expressions of her, right? So
Amanda (52:33) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (52:33) it's not always as easy, but Amanda, yes, sometimes you're like, they're newer on their journey. They've only experienced the red and the orange, right? And then the sun that you're
Amanda (52:43) Mm-hmm.
Melissa Amos (52:44) like, you have been through. all of the, you know, like the colour picker on Canva. It's like you've
Amanda (52:48) Yeah, yeah,
Killian (52:49) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (52:51) done the whole the whole thing. You're even random. Yeah.
Killian (52:53) All the spectrum. Amanda, do you feel like you're you're a young soul or an old soul
Amanda (52:58) I think old because I'm also a Pisces, kind of at the end of the zodiac, but that's the reason. And I feel like genuinely happy in life. And I feel like it's because I've feel very truly blessed and lucky for all the things that have happened to me. And I'm like There are so many other hardships and I just am grateful for all the good and I feel like that comes with some sort of wisdom and experience that you're just like, it there were harder times and at this point I'm in a very peaceful time because I could really appreciate what I have.
Killian (53:34) that's very sweet.
Amanda (53:34) But at the same time, I'm like, maybe I'm happy go lucky because I haven't gone through enough stuff.
Killian (53:37) Okay.
Amanda (53:39) So who knows? I don't know. It could be
Melissa Amos (53:41) Who knows?
Killian (53:41) Who knows? Yeah.
Amanda (53:43) one or the other. I wouldn't say I'm in the middle. object of the session.
Killian (53:46) You'll have to get a session and see.
Amanda (53:49) Although I do feel like I was a lady in some court. I'm not like a queen. I'm not necessarily a princess, but I'm like their bestie that will be like.
Melissa Amos (53:58) nice
Amanda (53:59) I don't want to get my head chopped off, so I'm probably gonna agree with you, but I'm
Melissa Amos (54:03) Ha
Amanda (54:04) also there to help you out.
Killian (54:06) I could see it. I like it.
Melissa Amos (54:06) Okay, I like that.
Amanda (54:07) That's the best case scenario. That's my only version of anything that I could have had in a past life. it would be very interesting to see what the records say.
Killian (54:16) It's true. Akashic records readings are fascinating to me and have always been very felt very profound when I've I've had them done. I'm curious a little bit, Melissa, I read your about me page and it mentions that your grandmother was a hypnotherapist, right? And this was I imagine at a time when that was not a very trendy thing to do. So what was that like and what was your how how was that for her? Yes.
Amanda (54:42) Especially for a woman.
Killian (54:44) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (54:44) I know what a warrior my grandma was. You wouldn't think it, right? She was like the
Amanda (54:46) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (54:49) sweetest, most glamorous woman. Yeah, she actually was a pianist
Killian (54:55) Mm.
Melissa Amos (54:55) by profession. she, back in the late 80s, I think is when she started, she trained the originals, right? With Bandler and Grindler and with NLP. And she tapping, TFT, like the original pre-EFT with Roger Callahan, who was the creator of this. And yeah, she did hypnotherapeutic work and she helped me so much because from when I was young, like eight, nine, 10, she would just take me when I'd go to see her and she'd put me on her couch and she'd take me on these little journeys across the Rainbow Bridge, she'd call them. She showed me really how my imagination is so powerful. Like she would tie this invisible balloon around my arm, right? And then like my arm would lift and then she'd get me to open my eyes and I'm like, how is this going on? And so you know, I'm somebody who has a really active mind. You you said about, you know, like anxieties and all of these things. Like I'm quite predisposed to that. Like I'm deep, I'm in my head a lot. And... She really gave me this gift of I have the power to direct my mind into these safe spaces, into these imaginative spaces. And I can use that for healing and growth, changing my states, you know, when I was nervous and to be like for exams and things to be more confident. You know, the biggest thing she did for me and I don't she didn't know she did it. but she did it. I was meant to go and see a hypnotist, stage hypnotist. And I go to her and I'm like, I'm going to go and see Paul McKenna. And she's like, no, you're not. Like, no offense, Paul McKenna. But back then, he wasn't doing therapeutic work. He was making people, you know, dance around like chickens. And she's like, no, you're not going. And I'm like, no, I'm like, I want to go. And she went, OK, I'm going to do a session with you so that he doesn't like mess with your mind. And I was like, fine. And so she took me under and she gave me this command I would only ever be able to be hypnotized if it's for my highest and greatest good. Oh, I goosebumps.
Amanda (57:06) like the best protection spell ever.
Melissa Amos (57:08) Honestly,
Killian (57:08) Yeah.
Melissa Amos (57:09) like from that day, it was really weird, right? Because I would stop falling for things, know, like adverts and like propaganda and like all of these things. I would just kind of see all my friends. I was 16, 15 maybe, and they'd all be going down this path. And I'd be like, why? Like, why are you all buying that new drink? Or like, why are you all doing this? Because I think I just kind of snapped out of the days that so many of us are in.
Killian (57:36) Wow. Don't we all need that?
Amanda (57:38) Could you snap America
Killian (57:40) Yeah, we all need that.
Amanda (57:40) out of that day?
Melissa Amos (57:42) Well, I'll just come down and implicitly...
Killian (57:45) Yeah.
Amanda (57:46) We'll get you a good radio signal.
Killian (57:48) Yeah, send a frequency
Melissa Amos (57:49) Okay.
Killian (57:50) to the United States.
Melissa Amos (57:52) Good.
Killian (57:52) That would be wonderful. wow, that is beautiful. That is really beautiful. And when you started your work, do you feel like you really tap into her energies? Or is it just kind of just part of your lineage and that feels good?
Melissa Amos (58:08) I think both. I've been open to her hypnotic language from a really young age. I can hear her in my head. She was a real supporter of me when I started my Reiki journey. She didn't understand it, but she was always very curious about it. I studied NLP while she was still alive and she gave me all of her books and with talk and all of these things. it was actually, she died in 2020 and she left me like a little bit of money and I'm like, I'm going to invest that money in me and in carrying on her work. And that's what led me
Amanda (58:48) It's amazing.
Melissa Amos (58:49) into my psychotherapy. So I did my counselling and psychotherapy training that included the hypnotherapy. And yeah, when I, when I practice, especially the hypotherapeutic language, it comes through. My mum says to me, she's like, you sound so much like my mum when you do that. And it's like, I, when I run meditations, for years when I run meditations, they just come, I just channel them. I don't make them up, they just come. And
Killian (59:23) Yes.
Melissa Amos (59:25) I've had a few times people have said to me that they've sensed my grandma. or an old lady sitting there as they come through, yeah.
Killian (59:32) Kind hanging with you. Wow, that's lovely.
Amanda (59:35) What was her name?
Melissa Amos (59:37) Molly Anne.
Amanda (59:38) Hmm.
Killian (59:38) Hmm. Sweet. mean, gosh, I could talk to you for hours because then there's this whole other conversation about lineage and how that appears also in our expression and
Amanda (59:47) yeah.
Killian (59:48) you know, like you mentioned, soul families and
Melissa Amos (59:50) Yeah.
Killian (59:50) how ancestry plays a role in that too. I just so appreciate you being here and I know that we're Running low on time. I have two small questions for you before you depart, which is do you have signs that show up for you consistently? I know you mentioned magpies, but is there something else that appears for you that when you see it you go, that's for me. That's a sweet little symbol.
Melissa Amos (1:00:12) I mean, I get numbers all the time. Like all the time. But like the random thing is I get loads of signs on like lorries and all
Killian (1:00:23) Mm.
Melissa Amos (1:00:24) bands and cars, literally once a week something shows up. Or if I've got something really big going on, I can guarantee you the answer will come on a lorry
Amanda (1:00:34) What's a lorry?
Killian (1:00:35) It's like a big truck, like a big rig truck. A truck.
Melissa Amos (1:00:37) A truck. A truck. Like
Amanda (1:00:38) Okay, sorry.
Melissa Amos (1:00:41) the side of a big vehicle,
Amanda (1:00:42) Yeah. Okay. For us uncultured other people.
Killian (1:00:47) No, it's it's a literal sign in that way, right? It's yeah,
Melissa Amos (1:00:50) It's a literal sign. Do you know, I've got a theory, right? I think that my next life, I'm going to be a spirit guide. I think that's what I'm training for. And I'm like, this life, I'm like, I'm going to get people really good at reading signs. So I love this podcast.
Killian (1:01:03) Yes,
Amanda (1:01:02) Yeah. I was afraid you were gonna say truck driver, All the signs! Beep beep, pay attention.
Melissa Amos (1:01:05) No, I'm not. No, maybe, maybe I'll be like going around with these like funky signs on the side. It's like, just do it. But no, I'm going to be there. So I'm training my people now. I'm like, right, this is how we, the world's a tarot and I'm to be up there throwing the signs down. It's you better listen.
Killian (1:01:24) Yeah, you're speaking my language And I think that this is the time. I mean, to your point about like, my gosh, the gift your grandmother gave you around not being able to be hypnotized unless it's for your highest and best. Like we were joking about bringing that here, but if there were ever a time that people in general need to tap into their own signs, like for their highest and best, This is it. And that is why I also love this podcast
Amanda (1:01:50) I hope we all get a little Molly Ann, to be honest. She sounds great. She sounds like a wonderful soul.
Killian (1:01:52) Yeah, yeah. She does. She does.
Melissa Amos (1:01:53) Aww, me too.
Killian (1:01:58) Melissa, if has there ever been a book that you feel like, really shifted your perspective in a wonderful way or that you would want to share with readers as as a great even starting point for understanding science, the world, spirituality, anything that feels good.
Melissa Amos (1:02:13) I'm going to go for one that probably no one said on your podcast yet. One of the very first books I read after I took my Reiki training was Seth series by Jane Roberts. it's a channeled text. And now I was
Killian (1:02:24) Mm.
Melissa Amos (1:02:25) very cynical and I'm like, I don't know, but I'm reading this thing. And honestly, they talk about the nature of reality. And you dive deep, there's an energetic frequency in that book that I can't even describe. if you're curious as to how you create your own reality, it's a very interesting here.
Killian (1:02:49) Okay, that's beautiful.
Amanda (1:02:49) That's awesome.
Killian (1:02:51) Thank you so much for that. And thank you so
Amanda (1:02:52) Thank you.
Killian (1:02:54) much for being here, Melissa. This was such a joy. Yeah,
Melissa Amos (1:02:56) My pleasure.
Amanda (1:02:57) Yeah, thank you for sharing your stories and wisdom. That's it's all so fascinating.
Killian (1:03:03) It is, it is. And we will
Melissa Amos (1:03:03) Thank you.
